Lightbulb Map Idea: HvHvZ or HvZ modes

In my opinion, the host should be given the choice between allowing human combat or locking the humans in alliance mode. The zombies could be given some bonus starting gold if the host picks humans vs zombies mode. This would allow people who only like the HvZ aspect of the game to stick with that. People who enjoy human combat would not be left out. (Just a random idea !)

Well the problem would be that most of the hosts will just pick HvZ and how do you distinguish the host out of all the colors(Hosts don't just stay red)

The problem is people can still fight with manual attacks and aoe attacks. So all it prevents is easily conquering other humans.

Well first off half of the techtree becomes semi-useless. Second off the game is balanced on an HvHvZ pattern. And finally it wouldn't prevent easy conquering. If anything it would make it easier for me to sneak in and steal all of another persons cities.

As for determining host, there is a way to do that via a trigger mechanism.

Host can be determined via trigger (I do it in BA) though its impossible to do it with 100% accuracy. Yes, this does cause problems to emerge sometimes, but overall feedback I have gotten is positive and indicates it works for most people.

I've posted this in the ideas thread but I don't know if everyone reads it so I figured I'd repost it here as it is relevant. I've been thinking about a WWZ zoom-in. The thing is that HvZ seems to be very popular. So I'm thinking of a version of WWZ based primarily around south-eastern Europe. It would include the countries of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldavia and Romania. Each country would be represented by 2-3 players (possibly one player would control the nations army, another would control the presidential administration and security forces, and a third one would control the navy or something) with large numbers of undead pouring on from an infested Turkey and Armenia. The map for this would be centered around the Black Sea. Nations would start out allied initially but without shared vision. Players inside a nation would be unable to unally, and the person in control of the president would be the one to make ally/unally commands for the entire nation. I've had a whole slew of ideas for this so I'll run through them quickly:
-cities represented by multiple buildings
-each infested building have a small damage aura that eventually infests nearby buildings allowing plague to spread
-rural population (villages etc.) making it possible for disease to spread
-extermination order to kill your own town, requires security forces to carry out
-3 zombie players, one a comp that constantly sends huge numbers of regular undead, dogs, and birds
-nuclear weapons
-ramped up armor for tanks and other armored vehicles, along with higher cost
-lower health for airplanes
-resources like oil, natural gas, coal, etc.

The map would use the currently existing WWZ map as a basis to simplify the process. I'm hoping that this style of gameplay would lessen HvH wars. Tell me what you guys think.

Great idea! Also, move to starcraft 2 when it comes out! It will be MUCH easier to use for a modern theme. And infested terrans would make better zombs.

How can you determine the host via trigger? I've seen it implemented, but it wasn't 100% successful.

infested terrens would Not make a better standard zombie since they go boom and normal zombies tend to eat what they can... although SC2 could be interesting to see this map on... it would have to depend on how flexible the editor is/ custom units and such.

Probably a big thing is how they do heros.. will they be just a buffed unit like sc or able toget stronger ala wc

Also im not 100% sure about sc2 but unless custom units were allowed there wouldnt be many units that could be used for each side... zombies could be made up of some zerg/toss units.... zergling hydralisk ultralisk zealots

while the humans would probably be all terren marines, firebats(yet last i checked they wernt in yet) ghosts could be the sniper unit.. tanks all 3 could be used if they are all kept..

personally i would stay with wc till we know exactly how good sc2 map editor is

I meant using infested terrans as models, obviously the attack would be changed.

The new infestation will work differently from the old one in sc2.
