New Member Needs Videssos Map

Hello, everyone, this is my first post, I came here because I hoped for scintillating conversations, lots of fun maps, and help with some of my amateur map creations.

Now, I am a long-time fan of Harry Turtledove's many Videssos books & series, and while many of them do not look right, it seems to me that with a little effort, I could manage a realistic simulation of the Time of Troubles using Warcraft III's map editor.

Now, the problem arises that while I'm certain I could do the units, I'm pretty sure I could do the accuracy & flavor, and I think I could do the triggers, I am absolutely certain that I cannot do a decent map/board to put the thing on. So mostly, I'm wondering if anyone with vaguely artistic skills has put the time and energy into creating a copy of a Videssos map during the Time of Troubles, and if not, if someone would be willing to in exchange for their name on the (future) map of mine, and my eternal gratitude.

Thrune

Re: New Member Needs Videssos Map

... Wow. It's not often I realize how... odd the books I read are.

The short version is, Videssos is a fantasy world, based on Byzantine history, written by a good writer, who is not only skilled, but has (I believe) a Ph.D in Byzantine history. The stories are good, and the Time of Troubles is one of the three giant series.

If you want to learn more, go to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] , which has a list of the novels set there. It's also part of the author's home page - And it has a map. ((By the way, I'm looking for a square going from the top of the Mylassa sea to the Y in Pardraya, on the sample map.))
