Gimp is a free image program that is commonly used for things like user bars. It requires a plugin called GTK witch can be downloaded below along with it.

For Windows: use the attached files at the end of my post
For Unix(including Linux): go [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
For Macs go here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Notes:
IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE GO TO GIMP.ORG
For older windows operating systems(earlier than Windows 2000) you will need to download a different version of GTK

Also remember that GIMP can be used for more then usebars but also can be used to edit skins.

cause we decides to put you out of business!!! lol jk but kinda... i just like making my own custom stuff because it will be exactly what i want instead of having someone else do it. I just like customizing my own stuff and i am sure others do to. Thats why I chose map making=)

Well back on topic. GIMP is a freeware that is less powerful then PhotoShop but is still pretty powerful. You can make animations and userbars. And edit skin for warcraft. There is always tutorials at their site on how to use use the GIMP, I believe.

(shadow thinks a lot) I have used photo shop before the full version and it doesn't really have more functions than gimp they both can do the same stuff but photo shop is more user friendly and expensive. Which do you think is better???

It's more powerful. Not enough to really tell unless you do more advance stuff through. But still unless someone offers you a free PhotoShop software I suggest that GIMP is better. But I didn't get a chance to use PS 3 beta to do some advance stuff like I wanted to because it was only a trial and I didn't get into graphics until a little after that.

But it's still pretty cool to have. Like I said. GIMP supports .tga files which are needed to convert it to .blp files that are used for the worldedit. Meaning you can edit your won skin and make your own loading screen.
