![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Your Political Standing? Apples and I were talking on MSN about the US government and the currently voting then we began talking about political standing. What I personal thinks: I come from a family that have very little money to move around since both my dad and mom is invalidity pension of their work. My dad worked as construction worker for 15 years and his back could hold that anymore and my mother works as nurse and catched a old man falling off his toilet and mess her back up too. So we don't have a real income, but the state is providing for us. Of course this have a impact on my political standing since I would like to see the state provide more for the people that is having a hard time or unable to help them self. So over here I am what we call red. In Denmark red stands for communism which as you might know, stands for more power to the state as in control of the money, companies, land, and so on. I'm not THAT red but I want the state to control more then I want companies. What the test told me: ( http://www.politicalcompass.org/test ) ![]() Seems that I'm a bit more red about the money then I though <.< So what is yours political standing? |

![]() | Re: Your Political Standing? Eh... I come from a family that has busted it's arse to get to where it is. My dad, as a boy, lived in a poor family, without a father figure -most- of his life, and with a mother who was, overall... Too busy to care for him as much as she should. He was passed between his father, mother, and grandparents most of his life, but, inevitably, his mother kept him from his father in later years. He had several sisters, and a brother, and has several sisters, and a brother. He used to have to beg on the streets for food, all in all, he had a rough childhood. As he got older, he joined the military, went off to Korea, and, came back married to a Korean woman, and had a son. He went back to Korea, leaving them in the states, and, eventually divorced her when he got back. Their son was put up for adoption and is now 30. He then met my mother, and on and on... My Grandmother on my mothers side lived during the great depression, coming from Germany to the united states for whatever reason. She passed on her Catholic beliefs to my mother, whom is now a devote baptist. My Grandmother is now in her 80's, and hopefully has another 10 years to go. I am proud of the fact she taught my mom how to be successful in life, and to take everything in stride. My mom, of course, grew up, got a loan for medical school, where she met my dad. They are both nurses now. Throughout College she worked off all of the money that she owed through scholarships and through working. My mother also developed arthritis in her knees, got surgery to correct it, and is now standing most of the day as a nurse. In my opinion, I think if these two very successful people can work, so can anyone else. While I do understand some people are disabled, (retardation, crippling illness, etc..) I think everyone can serve society in their own way. If your crippled from the waist down, work hard, and become a computer engineer or something. I definetly think -everyone- can work. Thats my two cents on it. |

![]() | Re: Your Political Standing? It's highly inaccurate. For example, I know my views well, I'm conservative in personal choices and moral values, but liberal in government policies. I'm somewhat of a strong-man when it comes to international diplomacy, but definetly very left-wing on the domestic front (in my view's). My results put me almost dead in the center. Which would equate me to those fence sitters that have no particular opinion on any matter. |

![]() | Re: Your Political Standing? I love this test because it asks you questions that you usually have no answer for. I agreed to almost all of them =P Or it asks you questions with big words that make no sense. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Your Political Standing? Okay, I just took the test. I'm right on top of Gandhi! Wooo! But yeah, it is a bit inaccurate. Obviously, I don't think I'm that extreme. I've never fasted in my life! EDIT: forgot the picture! ![]() And now, directly from chip's signature... ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Your Political Standing? That's how Gandhi forced peace in a religous Indian civil war! He said he would fast until they made peace. They didn't want him to die, so they said sorry to eachother. Gandhi was assassinated soon after ![]() ![]() And now, directly from chip's signature... ![]() |

![]() | Re: Your Political Standing? India was a British Colony (like the rest of the world, lol jk) and the Indians wanted independence. They were very close to a bloody war, involving modern day Britain, Pakistan, and India. But the plot thickens...what was the Indian Colony at the time was actually a combination of modern day India and Pakistan. With India getting close to gaining its independence, it would still have Pakistan as part of it. Pakistan was mainly Islamic, and India was Hindi. The Pakistani didn't want to be part of a Democractic country generally controlled by Hindus (the majority). Pakistan wanted freedom from Britain, India wanted freedom from Britain, and Britain wanted them both as colonies. Ghandi spoke, and demostrated peacefully. The Indian people fell in love with Ghandi. He was arrested several times, but everytime, the Indian people protested. Ghandi began to fast for his country's independence, and the British, not wanting him to die, for they would lose what was left of their control over the Indian people, ultimately gave India it's independence. Ghandi was the first person to ever defeat another nation (much less the British Empire) without violence. Hope you enjoyed the little history lesson. Quote:

![]() | Re: Your Political Standing? I've been lucky enough to be going to a great school my entire life. I was also fortunate enough to be able to form my own opinions on what I think about politics and religious things, rather than my parents forcing their opinions upon me, making them mine. I would have expected myself closer to the middle, simply because I believe a balance is beneficial and most efficient. That being said I don't know how accurate this is. I can't get the attachment thing to work, so I'll just tell you that I was in about the middle of the lower left quarter. Quote:

![]() | Re: Your Political Standing? Oddly enough, where to put it was quite easy for me. Directly in the center vertically, and in the center horizontally between the very center and the bottom. ![]() "If ignorance is bliss, you must be very happy!" - Anonymous |
