![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Pinwheel in the Milky Way? My vote for world's end is vacuum energy. You will need: a light bulb Method: This is a fun one. Contemporary scientific theories tell us that what we may see as vacuum is only vacuum on average, and actually thriving with vast amounts of particles and antiparticles constantly appearing and then annihilating each other. It also suggests that the volume of space enclosed by a light bulb contains enough vacuum energy to boil every ocean in the world. Therefore, vacuum energy could prove to be the most abundant energy source of any kind. Which is where you come in. All you need to do is figure out how to extract this energy and harness it in some kind of power plant - this can easily be done without arousing too much suspicion - then surreptitiously allow the reaction to run out of control. The resulting release of energy would easily be enough to annihilate all of planet Earth and probably the Sun too. Slightly possible. Earth's final resting place: a rapidly expanding cloud of particles of varying sizes. |

![]() | Re: Pinwheel in the Milky Way? I heard about vacuum energy, and while plausible, it just doesn't work for us at this point in time. Supposedly, it could have enough energy in a cup of coffee to boil away all the Earths oceans in a few seconds, but it doesn't, does it? Think about it, because energy is equivelent to mass, and since mass creates a gravitational effect, if a vacuum had a lot of energy to it, our universe would have collapsed into a black hole after its first moment of existence. Or, if the vacuum energy was repulsive, it would have blown the universe to bits, so far apart that not even atoms could have had a chance to form and cool. I also read somewhere, that someone tried to estimate the amount of energy in a vacuum, and it came out to be about the equivelent of 1 gallon of gasoline to a vacuum the size of the Earth. So yeah, try blowing up the world with that. Try not to just copy-paste things you find on the internet (many sources of information are wrong, such as "Top 10 ways to Destroy the Earth") and lets find some more constructive ways to give paranoids something to worry about, shall we? Besides, I was joking ![]() Back to the topic at hand...Pinwheel, eh...meh, when 2012 comes and we don't die January 2nd, I will laugh that whole day. Just. Laugh. I just hope that if it does happen, I don't feel it. It would suck to be burned alive <_< |

![]() | Re: Pinwheel in the Milky Way? No idea what the 2012 thing is, if its a religious histeria I would punch you now. But I believe I would rather have doomsday happen SOMETIME NOT DURING MY LIFE. Because then I wouldn't, you know, die. An intergalactic war with humans as part of it with new alien technology would be cool though O.o. I am chaos incarnate. I am the bane of all who oppose my wrath. ![]() | Re: Pinwheel in the Milky Way? Yeah. Lets re-live halo. But really, what the chance of these "gamma rays" hitting earth, when there are another 40000000000000000000000000 different places to hit. |

![]() | Re: Pinwheel in the Milky Way? Low, but there are so many things like this that the probability of doomsday is higher than it seems. But still very tiny, considering our planet has survived for 4.5 billion years without anything as deadly as this. I am chaos incarnate. I am the bane of all who oppose my wrath. Death shall come to all of my enemies swiftly, and without mercy. None will survive the chaos. |

![]() | Re: Pinwheel in the Milky Way? Whats the point in worrying about it, we couldn't stop it had our technology developed five-fold beforehand. Really whats the point in our existence if something like this took us out. No point, and if thats true, why exist anyway. Adding to the list of possible wipe-out-humanity-ers : Sun expansion, global warming, global cooling, aliens, nuclear warfare, asteroid/meteor impact, mutated virus, non-mutated virus, engineered virus, communists, divine wrath, demonic wrath, universe imploding, mass famine, generic kill each other #7, ... vaporization via pinwheel Last edited by MrApples; 03-16-2008 at 04:55 PM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Pinwheel in the Milky Way? 2012 must mean something, nostradamus said that too. wish he'd be more specific though. seriously... *then the human race... shall die!* funny part is if he's right, it'll be before i go to college =p (barely) ![]() And now, directly from chip's signature... ![]() |

![]() | Re: Pinwheel in the Milky Way? The mayan calender ends on the 21st of December 2012 not january. But people just assume it will be the end of the world because its the end of a VERY Large and early calender. Personally i feel the the mayans may have got sick and tired of filling out the calender and decider to end it on a significant event. The Winter solstice which takes place on december 21st 2012 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Custom Sigs by me |

![]() | Re: Pinwheel in the Milky Way? Actually the Mayans had about 5 calandars as I recalled. The current cycle we're in is the final calendar (And I don't mean the last one they made, its supposed to be final and supposedely the world or some shiza like that ends at the end of the calendar. But then again, what kind of retard are you to believe in their end of world theory when you don't believe their religions and practices yourself? Also I believe Nostradamus predicted the end of the world in a period of 3100-3200? Theres an exact year there but I just vaguely remember it. Watch the History and N.Geo channel kiddies! It makes you learn a lot but the time you need it you can't look it up as a source nor can you remember every specific detail! |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Pinwheel in the Milky Way? Uhh... In the show "Decoding Nostradamus," It said when the plane of the ecliptic, mundane horizon, the galactic equator, and the "Secret sign" in the zodiac make an 8-spoke wheel around the center of the galaxy. So, this is precise enough that it only happens once every 13000 years. and guess when it will happen next? If you guessed 2012, you're correct! Noooo! ![]() So, You might be asking how we survived the one 13000 years ago. I guess it's because doomsday missed. ![]() ![]() And now, directly from chip's signature... ![]() |
