Astral Projection...?

Has anyone else come across this term? I have, many times, and after knowing the definition, have seen it referenced, if only vaguely, and not always by that name, in many different things, such as books, movies, etc. There are loads of resources on the web about it, but most of them reference the same people, books, techniques, etc.

It seems like a touchy subject, among many things, involving the seperation of the "soul" from the body, and enabling one to explore on a reality slightly above the one we're on now, ghostlike but still attached to one's body.

Anyone care to comment on the feasability of such a thing? Some of it seems possible, if you believe in the soul or other similar ideas, and some of it I could claim to have experienced myself, while it could be disproven by science.

I think, that astral projection may be you hearing a conversation in your subconscience, with your mind painting you a pretty picture as you sleep. Or perhaps, a vivid or lucid and very realistic dream.

Course theres always a chance that i'm wrong, by how much I have no idea, and it certainly would be cool if astral projection were real, to be able to travel out of your body and be all ghost-like. Though I don't believe I'd like to give much more thought about the more supernatural things in the middle of the night...

It probably isn't real, just because its far more likely that your mind is just tricking you.

I've had daydreams where i've "seperated" my mind from my body. But its no more than a daydream, and I know this because the human mind is capable of easily creating images that you see when you would do this, even for someone like me with crap memory, it can come to you at certain times, such as when you dream.

Your attempt of dry humour is making me iffy, Cookie. Besides, if you admit that there is a soul, then who's to say it can't do things we don't know about?

I didn't believe it at first, until my girlfriend did it, in a sense. My lord, it scared the **** out of me. And there are more things that have happened with her (and her friends) that made me believe more things. So yes, I know it can happen. I wish I could do it -_- But, as I found out, its mostly a bloodline trait. So most people can't.

It's not a bloodline trait, anyone can do it, but I did hear that genes do help. As for the people making fun of astral projection, maybe you should research it first so you actually know what you are talking about. Yes, astral projection is real. Been there, done that.

Is it real or is the idea of it an explanation for things we do not know.
Before people understand things they make reasons that later show to be illogical there are still things to this day we do not know, who knows in years to come we may be able to explain such things and then we will understand the true nature of them, but until it can be shown and repeated it is nothing but myth.

I agree, we do not understand how it works. But neither do we understand how electiricity works and yet it gives us light and power. The same could be said for astral projection. We do not understand it but neither should we disclame it as not real. Until we have scientific proof, we cant say anything. We cant see what radio waves are yet we believe in their existance. Same could be done for astral projection.

No, it would not happen like that. It is really hard to explain, but I will try my best. First things first- possision is impossible. According to studies, people have an astral projection a few times a week but dont remember it. If possesion was possible, we would all be taken over. In order to achieve astral projection (consiously), you have to be in this state of mind where your mind is awake but body is asleep. Some people do it through meditations and to a rare few it is natural. Basically, astral projection is the separation of the spirit from the body. During the astral projection, you are connected to your body by something called the silver cord. However, as easy astral projection sounds, it is not. It is something that takes years to achieve through meditation (consiously). For unconsious astral projection, the one that takes place in your sleep and you arent aware of, it takes place several times a week. Some people have reported having dreams flying and then suddenly falling. That is usually a sign that you had an astral projection during the night. This is a really bad summary, I know, but people write books about this and I didnt feel like doing that at the moment. Research FTW!

Meditation is about clearing your mind of other thoughts and relaxing at the same time. It has a lot to do with this.

astral projection sounds like it could be real(but im not going to go meditating for severeal years to find that out). It's a interesting thought that has some decent proof behind it. Just because it can be disprooved by science doesnt mean it is wrong. Theres been alot of things people have thought they proved through science and it turned out they were wrong later. Every religion involving a god can be disproved, but people still choose to believe them anyway. Sooo for now im going to believe in astral projection.
