Rules of the Thinking Cap

The Rules of The Thinking Cap
1. Read stickies; You must read the rules and the stickies. A Sticky is a topic stuck to the top of a forum list, such as this one, and is an important read. Any stickies in The Thinking Cap is expected to already be read and moderators will not go easy on you just because you didn't read it. New members might get it a little easier depending on which moderator it is.

2. No Double Posting; Bumping of topics is only permitted if 24 hours has passed since your last post and that it is not within the first(top)15 topics of the forum list.

3. Proper English Only; We expect you to have some knowledge of how to speak properly. Near-proper grammar is expected. Its not hard, and you don't have to learn anything to do this, just the best you have. Yes this also means to post in English only, as most of our users only use English, our supported projects are all English, and the forum software is English.

4. Absolutely no pr0nography or other offensive/restricted images; You may not post pictures which show any sort of nudity or excessive violence/gore. Think of the forums are PG-13 rated and base it upon that.

5. No “Spamming”; Your posts must have some point or value, and your post may not be similar to one of your recent posts. Don’t post just for the sake of posting.

6. Respect Administrator’s and Moderator’s Judgment; If they close a topic or etc, then it was closed/etc for a reason and there is to be no open debate about it. You may ask why through Private Messaging, but it must not be public. If Global Moderators and Administrators need to tell you something, then you better know it. Even suggestions should be taken in The Thinking Cap because admins in this forum, suggestions are almost considered to be warnings.

7. No Profanity; Offensive language will not be tolerated; Although we have word censoring in place this does not mean every word will be caught, if you believe a certain word is offensive and should be added then report it to an admin/make a topic in Site Discussion. Do not purposely dodge the word filter, as it may be turned off for a individual user in your account options.

8. Respect Other Members; You are to be friendly and proper toward all members. Insults, offensive comments, and etc. will not be tolerated. In The Thinking Cap, this will be enforced greatly. If a moderator catches you, you will be in trouble.

9. Topics, Limit One; When you make a new topic, make sure your topic is really 1 topic, as in not a 100 different subjects in one. You can make new topics if you want to.

10. Proper Topic Titles; Also your topic’s title must be appropriate, nothing too general such as “???”, “Whats with this”, or “Ulti Footies”.

11. Polls are only to be posted when needed; Do not post a Poll if the topic is nothing other members should vote on. Post a TOPIC instead.

12. No “Hijacking” of Topics; A topic is called a topic for a reason. It is for the discussion of that Topic or Subject, and that Topic/Subject only. Do not post in a topic about Sports, “How about them Nazis?”, which would probably be offensive anyway.

13. The obvious things The things that a normal human being would know not to do, such as breaking into other people’s accounts or breaking the law. Yes it’s true, the law does apply here. As long as you post like a sensible person, then you wouldn’t even really need to read this (but you better anyway).

_________________________________________________

Steps of Enforcement
1. Loss of Rep + Warning
2. Suspension
3. Account Ban
5. IP Address Ban

The above steps will be taken if someone violates the rules, some more serious then others. A serious violation could result in skipping of steps or a combination of steps.

Looks familiar? Should because this is only a slightly edited version of the PoLlama rules.

I have a small problem with the rules about having to explain why they're wrong. What if they post something ridiculously stupid? You still have to take the time to explain?

I'll lurk in The Thinking Cap, and so will Leo. Anything too stupid, and we'll fix it.

Re: Rules of the Thinking Cap

I will crush it with the utter correctness of my own reply.

But really I dont think that rule should be much of an issue. Really, if someone decides to post something just dumb, ignoe it. For example if the topic is What is God?, and I answer, God is my desk. Simply ignore the post.

Re: Rules of the Thinking Cap

Yes, but you are missing the main point. Russian worried about stupid posts. I'm worried but flamers who eventually get to people. You know, a certain type of cat called a panther. That should be a PoLlama terminalogy.

hahaha... I'm new to the forum, so I have no idea about what panther did... but it was funny to see his apology and then everybody saying sh*t to him... and now this... hahaha... It really is funny... (maybe because I don't know what he did, but still...)

yay! story time!

I think the word could be used like: Stop being a Panther! (like if someone's head is too big for their shoes)

And now, directly from chip's signature...

This thinking cap is much nicer than the wc3diplo ones in which everybody just flames.

Re: Rules of the Thinking Cap

If anyone does Flame contact King_Leopold or myself by PM. If all possible, I would like a staff member to at least have talked to a member before they start going too far which would lead directly to a ban.

Re: Rules of the Thinking Cap

Yea, i know, but i'm saying that like in wc3diplo, you can't have a thread where a person does not flame..Like people shove it down your throat, and call you stupid for not getting a certain point, etc. That really doesn't help their case because nobody is convinced when their angry (from the other person insulting them.)

Re: Rules of the Thinking Cap

Sorry I wasn't commenting on your comment. I'm just saying that because I want to stop flaming at its earliest stages. This forum has many sentisitive topics.

*Because of The Thinking Cap may have some sensitive topic, moderation in the Thinking Cap is stricter than other forums.

Also listen to Mr. Zero and if you want to say something non-related to the topic then use the damn PM system.
