MrApples has a spectacular aura about
Starting my computer over from scratch

I'd like to do a total reboot for Windows XP, as in everything is wiped as if the computer is once again new. The spyware has won the battle and i've been meaning to do a reboot anyway. Does anyone have a link to a good guide for this? How about some tips from you experienced peeps?

I am quite good with this kinda stuff.

Go to your system files, and delete system 32, ignore all the warnings, it is a virus! And a big one at that!

Joking.

Give me your computers stats please.
Video card
Ram
Hardrive capacity

I may use a mac, but i can turn a ****ty computer into a mean machine.

Re: Starting my computer over from scratch

I dealt with spyware before and it can even act like a normal program and be located with your other programs that you installed. And as long as you still have spywares in your computer. The computer will stay crappy until it is removed.

Which is why MrApples wanted to just start over because then everything gets deleted and that means the spyware is also deleted.

Didn't he know most spyware files are quite easy to spot out?

Go into program files, delete the ones there, they are the ones that bring more.

Run a scan for them 3 times a day, it will kill them off quickly.
Continue to lurk around your registry and whatnot for suspicious things, go to microsoft website, and see if it is a windows component or not.

Re: Starting my computer over from scratch

It probably isn't spyware but the another -wares. The ones that actually damages your system to the point where it needs to be rebooted. I think it's malware or something like that. People have the tendancy to group all the -wares with spyware. Adware, malware, spyware. I'm sure there's probably a virusware or will be one someday.

Whatever, from conversations I had with MrApples, it sounded like his computer had like a computer AIDS.

Re: Starting my computer over from scratch

Spyware is considered a catagory, anything harmful to the computer.

Atleast he didn't get the virus' my buddy got.

He had a malicious program that he couldn't get rid of that turned of the computers fan, and ran the harddrive twice as fast as it should have.

Can you say Self destructing virus/ware?

Re: Starting my computer over from scratch

and what would be the point of making an anti-computer spyware?

And now, directly from chip's signature...

Good free anti spyware program, Ad-aware.

I also suggest getting a multiple coverage antivirus/antispyware/firewall program, if you can spare the money. Norton is okay, but it slows down your computer horrendously... McAffee is the same way. I've found a great one called Kaspersky, it is really nice overall, but can get annoying after all the popups, if you didn't set your firewall to low security mode. It does, however, monitor every connection, encrypted and not, for viruses and spyware, has some deep program scanning options (for viruses that integrate themselves into other files) and the highest disinfection rate (or so it says, on the box), as well as being low memory compared to other programs that do the same thing.

You are joking Right? Kaspersky is in the Low to OK Range. The best I have seen/used so far is Protowall (Yea, It costs $0.00) to block all those never want to visit sites, and Commodo Firewall (Its expensive too $0.00).. If you combined the two, You get No bad Sites (Blocklists from Bluetack) and a Firewall (Two-Way) that logs Everything for ya.

The firewall also comes complete with AV Scanner also..

FYI...
