MrApples has a spectacular aura about
Exe always starts Windows Installer for Frontpage

Whenever I open a Exe it starts windows installer for Frontpage 2003, which constantly fails until I cancel out of it about 10 times. Kinda annoying, anyone know how to fix?

Re: Exe always starts Windows Installer for Frontpage

Sounds like your registry is corrupt.

Here is how to reset the key.

WARNING
ALWAYS MAKE BACKUP OFF THE REGISTRY BEFORE EDITING THE VALUES

I take no resonsability for the mess you can make by changing the values.

Open "Run" (Hotkey: WindowsLogo+R) and type "regedit".
If Registry Editor opens successfully, then navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ exefile \ shell \ open \ command

Double-click the (Default) value in the right pane
Delete the current value data, and then type:

"%1" %*

(Also the quotes)

Navigate to:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exeIn the right-pane, set (default) to exefile
Exit the Registry Editor.

Afterwards try opening a exe file. It should not open Frontpage anymore.
