Hosting Toubleshooter

Apples, I'm sorry if this has already been posted but here is a step-by-step idea of how it should be done:

OK, I realise how many people have wanting to host lately so I decided I would do some people a little favor. I run on a wireless network and originally I couldn't host but there is a way and here it is:

(PS this is for Window, I don't have a Mac it might be the same though)

1) Go to Start, Run, and type in the box Cmd Prompt.

2) When in the Command Prompt type IPconfig.

3) Look for your Default IP Address (Not IP Address.)

4) Type your Default IP Address into your web browser.

5) When you hit enter a box will pop up, type Admin into the password section. If this does not work than you need the password from your parents or whoever is in control of the network.

6) Now, leave that page open and go to Start, Control Panel, Windoes Firewall.

7) At the top is a tab titled Exceptions

8) Create a series of TCP Exceptions titled Warcraft 3 numbered from 6112 all the way to 6119 (that's 9 exceptions by the way)

9) Now, go back to the web browser and go to the top of the page with the title Applications & Gaming (here it gets a bit complicated.)

10) Your first Application will be titled WC1 with the Port Range start at 6112 and ending at 6112 as TCP and complete the IP Adress using your IP Adress from the Command Prompt (Not your Default IP Adress this time.)

11) Your second will be titled WC2 with the Port Range start at 6113 and ending at 6113 as TCP and complete the IP Adress using your IP Adress from the Command Prompt, etc. all the way to 6119.

12) At the end check off all of the Enable boxes along these Applications and then you can close out.

13) Generally it should be finished at this but here are a few things you might want to do if it hasn't worked yet:
Disable and than Enable your connection
Start up Warcraft III and go to Options, Gameplay, and set the Port Number to 6114

Now if all of this didn't work you should reply to this thread, good luck and have fun!

Note: If the default password on your router does not work... then you need whoever maintains your router to give you the password. (Probably Parents.)

For more information regarding this topic of Port Forwarding, visit: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Port Forward has a lot of information and if you know nothing about port forwarding, it has a step-by-step guide on how to open ports for hosting. If you are using the step-by-step guide - located at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] - then you must know your router brand and Warcraft III ports. (6113-6119?)

WARNING: Port Forwarding is opening your computer to other computers for you to recieve information from them. This makes your computer vulnerable if you are not careful.

I have something very similar to that, i can host btw so i know what you are talking about but i simply open port 6112 in the router, not 6112 -6119. i dont understand why u need those. plus. if u really do need those, u can just use one port forwarding slot and put in 6112 to 6119. right?

Hey if anybody needs any triggering done or has any questions about it just PM it to me and i will help you to the best of my ability.

Re: Hosting Toubleshooter

U only actually need 1opened unless u plan on hosting on 2+ computers. By default the battle.net port is 6112.

crazycanuk11

It should read across. 6112 to 6112 TCP and ending with your finished IP address in the space provided after the series of numbers (example: 00.000.000.___)

And considering the replies that's all you need apparently. You don't need the rest.

Hey I started this and got to step 9, but I don't see Applications and Gaming. I'm on Linksys or something I guess. What site should I be at?

You might have a fire wall running, or your router may have a fire wall in it.

Its easier to diable your fire wall altogether. Honestly, if you have an anti virus program, (or 3 like me -_-) you wont need the windows fire wall (windows fire wall is usless anyways).

Re: Hosting Toubleshooter

no it isnt man, 1 can u even host? 2 it doesnt matter about the firewall on your computer it matter about the firewall on your router and thats what the port is for.

You could be unlucky that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) does not allow to host games.
