![]() | Pathing just thought I'd give a tip for some new mappers about pathing, although you can use pathblockers there is another way of doing it (might take a little bit longer to do but it will keep your doodad count lower) Hit either p, or control p, or you can go into veiw terrain pathing first off you have to start your map in all deep water (not shallow) then use the raise terrain (not up 2 levels) once you have the terrain above the water use the platue tool, this will make all the land equal to that one raised one, now if you want to make a mountain use the raise terrain and a river/ocea/lake use the lower terrain. (this will come in handy later) k, so lets say you make a mountain out of staglatmites (I personally like using the up one/two levels when using staglatmites however you can also do it when using the raise terrain feature) now, once you have your mountain built you'll need to path those doodads, now the easiest way to do it would be to go into object editor and create a new doodad, you change the pathing on the new doodad to fence and change the art model to invisible platform/none/pathblocker it doesn't really matter as long as its invisible, however their is another way of doing it that takes a little bit more of time however it will keep your dodad count lower, what you do is select the smallest brush size, then you use the lower terrain feature where the doodads are located, at first the doodads will look under water, but pending on how close they are you can select them hold control and hit page up, this will raise the doodads above the water, and will conceal the water, about 80 percent of this base was done using water as a pathblocker heres another example of using water as a pathblocker, (only useful for large walls such as this however if you built a large city with the walls lined with houses it would also work just raise the houses. now heres how I pathed my walls in clan wars at first it looks kind of crapty, but after you raise the water that you don't need you can then begin realigning your wall using control pageup/page down to raise or lower the doodad, after about 2-5 minutes of work you can have that wall look like this wall which normally would have taken about 30-40 doodads to set up pathblockers now only took me 2. takes more time, but if done it could shave off anywhere from 50-500 doodads off your map. if you have any other questionsn please pm me. |

![]() | Re: Pathing This really could use some formatting on the text (bold, colors, spacing, etc). The text is kinda all on top too. More opinions? Someone? |
