Making Item sets

If you want to make the map even more addictive , you can add item sets.

Example. On random drop wizzards can drop parts of the set --> Wizzard staff, Wizzard ring, Wizzard shield, Wizzards materia. Eatch item can have some effect, Like the wizzard staf give damge and attackspeed and the wizzard ring gives mana regen etc. If you got all those 4 items in your slots then it combines to one item --> A set artifact. This is a very strong item with a lot of stats and special effects.

In different arenas you could put different sets --> in the snow arena (snow sets) in the nightelf arenas (nature sets) etc. So the user can try to get all the sets, however these sets should be more powerfull the the artifacts u can buy.

Also A Tip --> Remove all the annoying trees in the snow arena and make sure the creatures give more experience.

Great RPG btw

Re: Making Item sets

I like the idea of sets, they dont have to combine to make 1 piece though, that could get a little overpowered, but instead have set's of 3 or 4 items

for example (X being a number or %) :

wizards ring - plus X hp, X mana, X stats
wizards staff - plus X ias , X damage
wizards robe - plus X amount of armor, X amount of mana regen

for wearing all 3 parts of the set you can get bonus abilities like any of the ones previously mentioned or even new ones like increased movement speed, magic reduction and so on

having one or more of the items having a useable spell like being able to cast ultima from the staff , and the ring can cast a heal

Re: Making Item sets

Added a poll, don't forget it to add one the next time, thanks.

Item sets aren't some items combined in one, that's a recipe system you are thinking of.

Item Sets are items which get stronger if you got them all together in your inventory (normally), or get stronger with each added item belonging to the same Set (like in Diablo II).

So what you mean really?

Recipe System is already in Submission Section.

Re: Making Item sets

Its completely different than recipe system pfeff..

Item sets require multiple items in inventory... recipe system is just ONE item in inventory.
Item sets give bonus' when you have similar items in inventory... recipe system has nothing to do with equiped items.

Re: Making Item sets

Before you have this ONE item in your inventory, you have to combine 2 or more items together, and this COMBINING is the Recipe System.

Blitzy wanted to combine a Set of items to ONE item, so it is a kind of Recipe System. But the threads name is "Making Item sets", and to a set belong more than ONE item, so it is no Item Set anymore. It is a Item generated through a Recipe System.

Re: Making Item sets

Item Sets and Recipe combinations are both good ideas.

They would make the heroes more customizable and create more replayability (new combos and characters to re-explore) in the map.

Item sets should have one specific goal (focus) with minor additional stats. Additional stats would include HP, Mana, +attribute (just like current items but with smaller bonuses so the focus remains on the set goal.

Such as:
Set focused on HP regen,
Set for Mana regen,
Set for MAX damage,
Set for atk/move speed,
Set for AGI,
Set for STR,
Set for INT,
Set for Armor/def,
then maybe a couple other balance sets which provide cool abilities/spells.

Re: Making Item sets

Well sets are good but we are gettin aways from orig FF.I more thinking of making just 2 ultyma sets wich will rare to find like wich will have atributes of good green item but when finished BAm cool set.
Or just as i say lets not go away from originalyty lets just make like epic items for warriors and wizzards, cuz if ull wnna get set ull have to drop smth good(like death skill on high lvl pwns all)

The LIFE is like a game, only theres no saves and cooler graphics!

Re: Making Item sets

I can't remember any touch of 'item sets' in any FF I've played. So all doors are open, it's up to you.

Re: Making Item sets

I also can't recall anyhting set-ish in FF, there were pieces that shared the same name, Genji comes to mind, but other then just being awesome pieces of equipment, they didn't really have set bonus' as most people of today might be thinking of. However, I'm all for anything that helps clean up inventory space. Or let the spirit of Gaya carry quest items. It's highly annoying only having 1 free slot to carry quests items, or else having to load my equips on the spirit so I can carry extras. Or warpping back and forth 1 thing at a time...etc, etc.

Re: Making Item sets

Hmmm.... I think this is straying too far away from the tried and tested formula. I think a recip system solely for upgrading items might be good, for example, add Death Skull to Dragon Wand, and add a 25% chance for 4x damage, in a modified Dragon Wand, that works just the same.

Like add the Greater Totem Of Power to the Absorber and get an extra +8 to all stats.

It would mainly involve adding accessory effects to weapon/shield/armor, I was thinking adding Dragon Wand and Masamune together to give Masamune the ability to cast Ultima, but you can't equip more than one weapon, so it'd be very hard to accomplish, while keeping the 1 type of item at a time thing.

Good Idea?

Re: Making Item sets

That's the right way, but if added there would be complexer recipes than adding the skills and stats to an other item. A new item would be created.

Re: Making Item sets

in fft/ffta, item sets are "mostly" for aesthetic value and many players are fond of collecting, thats why good(if not the best) mmos have their collecting aspects in the game.
but for ffe(since its possible) , it wouldnt hurt adding bonuses when completing a set tho...
