A Guide to RoE

I thought I'd start off by writing a quick guide to playing RoE. I'll work on expanding this.

1. When the map loads, quick move to take over the nearest base. If you are NE, have druids of the claw use roar, so you take the bases faster. Ideally, you should try and take 2 bases before the first timer expires.

2. Keep expanding, once you have 100-125 gold, build a squad of cheap melee units. If you encounter anyone else, try and surround their hero and take them out. BUT don't chase their hero around when you have no chance of catching them, this will just get your units killed.

3. BUILD A CAPITOL. Then start upgrading your bases (this gives you more income) - start with the ones furthest in your rear, so there's less a chance you lose your upgraded base. Also, continue to build up an army.

4. Build a blacksmith and research center to improve your units.

5. If your empire is big, fortify the main entrances, while you continue expanding in a different direction.

6. Kill all your enemies.

UPGRADE!
RoE is all about upgrading, never let your base sit there as a level 1, upgrade it ASAP, unless ur under attack, then u could build units i guess....
.... if you really wanted to.

I did say "unless ur under attack"
I mean, I like upgrading but i know it doesnt make sense to upgrade while ur under attack, unless u have money for more troops and want to pump out good troops right at the scene of the battle.

I just wanna say, the bases are important but most players rough it up with brute mass armies. Upgrading ur bases are important too but UPGRADE UR TROOPS FOR GOD's SAKES A BLACKSMITH IS ONLY WORTH 100 GOLD!!

here's one! rush a bunch of abominations with disease cloud into the enemy, then get necros to clean up using raise dead! also, i prefer having 6 groups of knights than 3 groups of upgraded ones. Also, i found that if you expand quickly, you have about 75% chance of winning the game, since your income would be about 1000! :tongue:

King stubby about that part, if you have 6 groups that have no upgrades and 3 groups of knights that have up to about 3 upgrade in both weapons and armor, the small groups will pwn. I just tested it. ^^

I said i would PREFER 6 groups over 3 :tongue: I don't know why, but i like saving my bases helm's deep style!

.. Ok.. I do not know how the heck a large group of knights have ANYTHING to do with Helm's deep but if it's your preferences, I can't say anything about it I guess.

this isnt really a stratagie but more of a guideline
1. expand as fast as possible
2. upgrade ur bases
3. this isnt lk or ba so massing isnt as bad
4.upgrade as much as possible
