Any suggestions on making a ladder system for BA? I'll write some of my own later.

I am not too sure honestly how this would work. I am not as familiar with ladder setups as I am matches or tournaments.

I know this would require a seeding, and a record.

How would this work though? Winners are easily determined, but how do you determine who comes in 2nd? 3rd? Last? Do you use points, or last man standing? If you start with a ranking system, who determines initial seeding? In a ladder you need someone to climb over, right?

My initial seeding would be:

I may have forgotten some people offhand, and its hard to determine individuals sometimes. This is my opinion though.

Maybe if 3-4 others do this, we could use the avg ranking and get an initial seeding. Or am I wrong altogether about how ladders work?

Well I was thinking of something point based. To join the ladder, you must come to the forums and sign up. Everone would start with 100 points.

Here are some sample rules I came up with - feel free to suggest alternatives, I just pulled these out of my ass lol.

1. All ladder matches must be FFA (keeps it simple)
2. There must be at least 6 ladder members in each ladder match.
3. Cheats such as maphack or custom kick are obviously banned.
4. Replays of ladder matches must be submitted here, for them to count.

Now the hard part, I think is assigning and deducting points for wins and losses.

Here are a couple ideas.

1. Give points based on number of bases that are killed/captured - I could easily a minor trigger that keeps track if people liked this idea, though a problem can emerge if there are public noobs in the game who could have their bases easily taken for points, or maybe this is ok?

2. Assign points based on how long you survive, if you win, youd get most, the system could be designed so if you die in first 6 you lose points, while if you make it to final six you gain points based depending on your specific position. The formula should also account somehow for if the people you beat outrank you or if they are below you.

Point 2 is pretty much exactly what I had in mind. Determining point bonuses based on rank is what needs working out.

Point 1 is a great idea. I think thats something that should be included. Even better if it was a table that couldbe turned off or on. -Basekills On. -Kills On. Etc. Nice.

Here is my idea mixed with the 100 points idea. Everyone on ladder starts out with 100 points and if u qualify later for every one week later you join you get -10 points. So if you joined ladder after a week it came out you only start out with 90 points. I also think ladder can only be on special days and set times to keep it fair for everyone. Another rule I think that could fall into play is if you come in last place you get -6 points, then -5 points, then -3, then -2, then -1, then 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5, then 6, then 10 if you win. In order to win you must kill all other opposing bases and have the replay. If someone is caught cheating they get -50 points and if someone is caught feeding another player they get -20 points. These are just some ideas thrown out there to help start it up.

For the seeding i think that we need to put EVERYONE in it but the what you have so far is pretty good :P (i like my spot) and it should be only the top 20 are allowed to play in matches together ect....

Actually, Junior, thats about the very first GOOD idea you have come up with.

We can run a tournament, and do seeding that way.

i think one problem with making a ladder is how much people play. There might be some good BA players that arent on as much as other. So the ba players that play more ofte would most likely be higher on the laderr. Also i think there should be a team and ffa ladder cause we dont have pro ffa that much. Otherwise i think a ladder would be great so people cant say there are better than others.

Played with ZayZay. He's certainly good, Niteshadez is clearly better.

I have an idea! This Saturday's tourney could decide the placement on the ladder? How many points would everyone start out with, then?

the problem wiht that is it would be a set ladder and u wouldnt be able to move up ranks. and the tourny on saturday might now happen casue we happen even set final rules.

Slow down shado, junior. Then think about what you're typing.

The Ladder, IF it happens will begin after the tournament. The rankings, (or seedings) will be made and altered after the tournament.

We still need to establish rules, rankings, point scales for the ladder. I will research it later.

So.. hold off on worrying about the ladder as of yet.
