![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Writing from a new OS So I made the jump from just normal geek in Windows, to being newbie in Linux. I'm still don't understand why the hell I need to go the Terminal (Command console for Win) for doing system things. Like deleting folders. I'm not a "power user" which is quite annoying. Well at least lesser chance that I break something... right? I'm using Ubuntu which is claim to be the most user friendly Linux. Well it looks a lot like Windows (Thank heavens) and works much like it. Through I can't run WC3 on it . Quite a downer. Here is a screen shot: ![]() (Oh sweet, press print screen doesn't just copy the screen, it also ask you where you want to save the image. No need to go into a picture editing program. Awesome.) Well it feels nice, smooth and wow my computer only have 1 GB ram and right now I'm only using 237 MB of them while have Firefox open. A lot lesser then my old Windows used to take (~500 MB at least). So... Oh and view PoLlama with Linux is horrible. For some reason the text hurts your eyes. The OS font aren't too good. |

It seems Wine can't do it (NewGen just closes <.<) so an alternative would be getting some kind of virtual machine. I don't know, but overall I actually like Ubuntu over Windows. More user friendly, you just have to get used to the hotkeys and programs. Also updating and finding programs is a hell lot more easier. I don't need to go to google and search for what I want, I just go to my packet manger and search there. Mark for installation and your done. Through it can be hard to understand why the hell I can't be root user all the time. I mean I have to go to the terminal and change owner on a folder just to delete a single file. It's stupid, meh. I just hope I can find some kind of virtual machine before SCII . |
