![]() | Game Reviews: Counter-Strike: Source ![]() (Two Counter-Terrorists aiming their guns, looking for what is probably terrorists, both are holding M4a1 assault rifles.) Counter-Strike: Source has been a great FPS for a long time now. Everyone knows that it brings together a lot of factors, to make an overall great game. I definetly consider this game the "King of FPS" mainly because it's so great, and it set the standard on what a FPS should be played like. I never took the time to play single player mode, however, I have played against bots, and their AI can be very malicious at times. However, multi-player is where the real fun is at, with all sorts of game modes to play in, and a nearly endless supply of maps. So far, I have seen Surfing, RPG mod, Zombie mod, Gun-Game, Normal play, and various other styles of modifications to the game. Each game you get into is different with the huge selection of maps and the profound difference in each. The guns are also very nice, each having it's pros and cons. The 1-shot head-shot AK-47 is definetly my favorite gun in the game. With a wide selection of guns, secondary guns, what could be bad about this game? I think the fact that you have to buy new equipment every time you die, is probably the largest con in the entire game, which really isn't so bad. It gives the good players a reason to strive for victory, rather than let the poor playing team win. The game is outstanding in all aspects, except for graphics. The graphics are mediocre, and old, but that is to be expected with the time it came out in. Not much to say about this game but that it is a great creation, and overall, I think it deserves it's rating. Graphics: 4/10 Originality: 6/10 Single Player Gameplay: 3/10 Multi Player Gameplay: 8/10 Artificial Intelligence: 4/10 Overall Gameplay: 9/10 Design: 7/10 Story: N/A (That I know of.) Total score: 6/10 Wrapping it up: In total, there is a very small customization standard, and some of the guns are just too powerful. However, you are rewarded hours of fun with this game simply by playing one of the mods. My personal favorite being Zombie Mod. Why is the score so low when I gave it such a great review? Well, while it is a given that in about half the aspects of gameplay, it rules, however, on the other half, it is lacking. The AI does what a player would most likely do, however, with a tad difference, being it knows where you are, and, on max, it will kill you in one shot. ![]() (Terrorist aiming his Krieg rifle in the grass.) |
