Warcraft movie

if you don't know Legendary pictures (300, batman, superman) is creating a Warcraft movie. It is not going to follow illidan's, or blademaster's journey to 31337 n00bl355 pwndom but it is going to be a movie based in the "world" of warcraft (yeah i know that was really lame.....) well if anyone knows something or would like to share their ideas i guess we can post it here.

i think jack black would make a pretty cool pandaren....

Honestly, a TFT movie would be better. Is there even a storyline to WoW?

Re: Warcraft movie

Atleast register if you're gonna make a 3 word incoherent post on a dead topic. Nvm, I take that back. Seriously though, killing boars?

But I won't continue to flame you. Since this topic has been revived (although it will be short lived), I feel I have to agree with Nos. Making a movie out of WoW would be tough, and TFT is better anyway.

Re: Warcraft movie

Weeel, there sorta is a storyline to wow, tft is just one segments of it, a segment that I suppose would be pretty entertaining, heck, mosta that stuff was pretty fun to read so it'll be decent to watch. They could make a good couple of movies off the complete storyline if holywood doesn't screw it up.

WoW is a huge mass of "lore lulz", nothing but a tangled web. I have great doubts that anyone could form a time line out of it.

Re: Warcraft movie

What? A movie out of WoW? Epic Phail, I'll watch it to criticize it and flame about it.. They should make a movie based on the Forgotten Realms O_o. And oh god, I do not mean Drizzt. That would be worse then a WoW movie.

Because he is Drow. and he is Good. See the conflicting natures here in DnD? They created Elistaree just for him. What BS. Good. Drow. No.

Being born as a creature hated everywhere, in a hostile enviorement you were banished to, full of hate and betrayal wherever you go, with your own kind plotting against each other... Its just like Demons and Devils. Anyways, I don't want to hijack this thread >_<

okay, I REALLY hope that they don't make it from WoW. Stupid idea. Make it a preview to warcraft IV, or at least base it off of warcraft III!

Film adaptation
In May 2006, production company Legendary Pictures acquired film rights to adapt Warcraft for the big screen with the game's publisher, Blizzard Entertainment. Blizzard had originally considered hiring a scribe for the film adaptation before teaming up with Legendary Pictures.[88] The companies plan to create a film that would not follow one specific Warcraft game's storyline, but would still take place in the fantasy universe.[89] According to Blizzard's Chief Operating Officer Paul Sams, the film's budget would be over $100 million.[90]

In June 2007, Legendary Pictures chairman Thomas Tull said that the studio was working closely with Blizzard's designers and writers to adapt World of Warcraft. Tull explained the desire to have a good story for the film adaptation, "I think some of the stuff that makes a game translate well... if there's a lore, if there's a road and story and a world that's been created, and characters that are interesting in a way that's more than just point and shoot."[91] World of Warcraft's lead designer Rob Pardo expressed interest in being able to adapt the intellectual property of World of Warcraft to the appropriate medium of the film. He also added that the designers were collaborating with Legendary Pictures on story and script development.[92]

In August 2007, at BlizzCon, it was unveiled that the film will aim for a projected 2009 release. It was also revealed that the movie will take place from an Alliance perspective and will be geared towards a PG-13 audience, with a storyline set one year before the beginning of the World of Warcraft storyline. As of this time no director or cast are yet associated with its development. Thomas Tull stated that, "It’s not so much a quest movie. It’s more of a war movie."[9

Okay, good news and bad news. Mostly bad news.

Good news: One year BEFORE WoW is TFT!

Bad News 1: You got that off of wikipedia, so it's kind of unreliable.

Bad News 2: It's supposed to have the "intellectual quality" of WoW!

ps: And here's where i really wish we had a smiley that did this! ( O_o )

The movie is dead? Oh well, doesn't matter much. Don't know what good movies are coming out in 2008. Cloverfields already happened...

Re: Warcraft movie

A movie based on the TFT storyline would be nice...
But.
I think a mini-series covering Reign of Chaos through Frozen Throne would be better.
But then again, anyone who would agree to make/air the mini-series would probably just **** it up. Mini-series are generally good, because really they're just epic movies with better storylines and well-developed characters. Plus any wc3 player would have extremely high expectations of the mini-series, so unless it was the best mini-series ever, we'd all be let down.

When you make a movie based off a game, especially one that can be played online, you have to do a good job, or the game's fans will flame you for years to come. I think making a movie based off a game (even one with a really good storyline, including rpgs) would be the hardest kind of movie to make, because you'd have a lot of people anticipating it, and they'd be harder critics than most.
