![]() | Yankee News for all you stupid Yankee Fans, HAHAHA YANKEES LOST MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Yankees starter Mike Mussina left Wednesday's game at Minnesota three batters into the third inning because of a strained left hamstring and will probably miss at least his next start. After allowing consecutive hits to Luis Rodriguez and Alexi Casilla at the start of the inning, Mussina went to a 2-1 count against Luis Castillo, then motioned to the dugout for someone to come out. Pitching coach Ron Guidry visited the mound, followed by a trainer and manager Joe Torre, and Mussina walked off after the brief conference. "It kind of grabbed at me. I didn't know how bad it was, so I threw a couple more and it grabbed at me again, so before I ruin a good part of a month or more, I thought I'd get out of there," Mussina said. "I've been around long enough to know what's a little more than a cramp. It was more than a cramp. But it's not bad. I don't limp and I can still touch my toes." Sean Henn, who relieved Mussina, probably will take Mussina's starting turn Tuesday against Cleveland, but the Yankees weren't ready to declare Mussina on the disabled list just yet. "As soon as I heard hamstring, I knew we had a problem," Torre said. Nineteen-game winner Chien-Ming Wang already is on the disabled list with a strained right hamstring, pitching prospects Jeff Karstens and Humberto Sanchez are also out, and fifth starter Darrell Rasner left his first outing early because of a blister. And left fielder Hideki Matsui has a strained left hamstring, too, which sent him to the DL on Sunday. "This is just one of those freak things that we've had happen here," Torre said. The 38-year-old Mussina, who is beginning his 17th major league season, gave up a walk and a double in the first two innings against the Twins. He lost his first start, giving up eight hits and six runs in four innings last week against the Baltimore Orioles, his original team. Mussina has had problems with his groin before, but not his hamstring -- so he wasn't quite sure how to react. "We can work through this," he said.
