Mythic RPG

Mythic RPG

Mythic RPG is my first true project, and my main focus is to avoid and fix the errors and flaws that most RPG’s have, such as: bad punctuation/spelling, imbalances, and so on. Even worse, these are very obvious, and show that the maker is too lazy to update his map, another reason why I started this project. Before I continue with anything else though, I’d like to write out a large feature list (also serving as a reminder for myself).

Features

-Save / Load
-8 players, 4 NPC forces
-Dungeon for almost all zones
-1 town for each zone (this is undecided)
-Banks
-100 hero levels
-10 classes (classes provide extra spells and stats)
-11 skills, 4 special abilities, 1 ultimate per hero
-15 heroes
-50+ quests
-Unique boss fights
-Hero only quests (all heroes get them)
-4 unit classes which signify unique units--Elite, Hero, Legend, and Mythic (items use the same formula)
-Possibly the ability to become one of them
-More than 250 items (not including quest items)
-Companions that level up for both active and passive skills

And of course, the opposite of those flaws and errors that I listed

You may also see a topic requesting help on a difficulty system

I haven’t exactly thought of a story, but I can guarantee it won’t involve the typical story involving an evil person trying to take over the world. Doesn’t that annoy you? Anyway, I will post my story here when I decide on it.

Well I haven't finished planning out the zones, so I'm not exactly sure what the max level creeps would be. I was just hoping it would come out to 50.

It will most likely end up being 70 or 80 though.

well just take it one step at a time so that u dont get overworked also in games like these lvling up is the easy part so it doesnt matter that much what the max lvl is

Yea, I had to take a break because I was trying to finish multiple things at once, and lost my motivation :P

Update#1: Features

-Items have ranks. Example: if a rank 1 Helm has +2 Armor, a rank 2 would have +4 (stats will be balanced accordingly). There is a maximum of 5 ranks.

-Hero level max is now 100.

-Set items--minimum set pieces is 3, max is 6. Most of them are Elite, but there is some Hero sets and one Mythic set.

-First hero is finished: Unholy Hunter. (If you've ever played EverQuest, it's similar to the Shadow Knight, who has summoning and disease spells from what I can remember) If anyone is interested, I will list the UH's spells and some basic info on each of them.

-First zone is being worked on: Darkmist Forest.

Here's some basic info on Darkmist Forest.

Darkmist Crypt

Darkmist Crypt is home to a small amount of undead, which of course includes zombies and skeletons. It is mostly inhabited though, by fallen Aldaren soldiers, who still wear their guard equipment making them heavily armored foes. The boss (Commander Brenath) uses a mix of agile and powerful attacks. Fortunately, none of them include area of effect attacks, so keeping up with heals will be much easier. (This is the first dungeon, requiring 2+ players, with minimum hero levels of 3.)

Shadowscar Trolls

The Shadowscar Trolls have made Darkmist Forest itself their encampment. Their interest in imbuing and blacksmithing, plus skill in hiding in the shadows, hence the name, make them the leaders of ambush tactics. They have also developed a hierarchy, having one chieftan, one high priest and a war commander to aid them in the art of war. Although they have an ongoing war against King Aldaren, they must also be wary of the Darkmist Crypt inhabitants. Currently, they are lead by their founder Chieftan Shadowscar, who resides in his hut by the waterfall.

It's a possibility, but a very low one at that :P The majority of the towns are run by humans, but some belong to Arioch (the main boss), which are raidable.

i dunno if this would fit with your story, but it would be kind of cool to make an rpg set from he perspective of a bad guy, instead of trying to save the world, why not make it you are trying to conquer the world, or maybe you start out good, and gradually just become power hungry - or, maybe you start unaffiliated, and halfway through you choose a faction to join...just some ideas

Unfortunately I haven't been focusing on the story as much as I would like to, but the basic idea is that Arioch possessed King Aldaren, and is working on destroying his "kingdom" without suspicion. This might change of course, because I want the story to be very original. I do know that fighting in a battleground style area located in a mid-level zone will be part of the story though. I might add info on that later...

Choosing a faction gave me an idea though

Btw people posting suggestions will obviously be rewarded and appreciated

cool! i have an awesome original story idea!

King Aldaren was riding along in the Nunchuckle woods on his flaming pink unicorn when he was ambushed by the super fantastic "Footsie Attack Guards Going Over There Soon" (figger out THAT acronym!) Squads of Pajama Warriors!
he was possessed by Overlord Glee, and now our heroes must ride upon white piggies and save the princess from captain planet!

this story was very well thought out, full of inspiring stuff of all sorts. it's meant to inspire, not be the real story! (oh my god! a disclaimer!)

i think having the ability to choose your faction as they game developed would certainly make it unique, though youd have to make it so early players can't get raped by higher level players in a faction, perhasps start everyone on some sort of "noob island" where they begin their quests and get their early levels, but once you leave, you can't return for easy killing

The island idea might work but I've already decided to make them spawn in a city, so instead of having players unally if they choose a certain faction, I'll probably just make it to where you get neutral benefits, such as a faction only dungeon or different classes, stuff like that.
