Civilization: 1

I decided to start work on this new project for RoC, I am accepting ideas, and tips. I have a question tho, in Genisis of Empires, how did they creat a info menu? And how did they make you abkle to build your first buildings though items?

Re: Civilization: 1

I'm not sure what you mean by info menu but for the the first buildings through items. They based it off an item called tiny barrack or tiny town hall. It's an item that quickly builds a building when it's used.

Re: Civilization: 1

It's rather a quest menu or a dialog that appears when you type -help and what button you press shows a list small list of text that explains what you picked. Actually that's a good thing to have. For a map like Ultimate Footmen. It's really simple and you can catch on easily. But for some of the more complicated maps that can't fit it in all at the quest menu I think this is good to have.

But I think he's talking about the quest menu.

Re: Civilization: 1

People using the shop to change it got annoying....

I think I know what you are talking about. It uses spellbook ability, to create another menu. Each option in that menu is an ability. And than you just use triggers to make those abilities do what you want them to do.

If you want it to be for Roc than you can't do it. Spellbooks are tft only.

You could do it the painful way. Alter the slk. files.

Re: Civilization: 1

Spell editing for RoC only maps can be done easily with TFT editor and mpq editor.

Using TFT only spells like spellbooks is a completely different matter. I'm not even sure how do this, nor have I really investigated it. You'd have to find all the spell related files in TFT.

Re: Civilization: 1

As I said painful.

Spells are simple a file with some numbers and strings.

Spellbooks are a collection of .slk files, yet only fills one .slk file.

To edit them you could open them in a program like Excel and edit that way.
Just same them as .slk files again.

Re: Civilization: 1

I know how to .slk ability edit, but I don't know all the files that need to be imported into RoC in order to make a spell from TFT run in RoC. There also no tutorials or answers to this question anywhere online, and I've seen it asked in many places. Maybe it can be a PoLlama project to investigate.

Hmm... I am not the one you seek. I very little understanding on MPQ editing.

Anyway this is way off topic.

Sorry, my fault.

Re: Civilization: 1

The genesis of empires 2 menu is an ability on the main base where you control the taxes, government, and a lot of the other parts of the game. It is a dialog box like King_Leopold uses for voting systems, only it is run on a keyboard!

Re: Civilization: 1

Speaking of that system the only really well executed version of it sees to be in GoE II which did it to great effect, with sub-menus etc.
