Newbies= Ask questions you want to know about graphic arts.

Pros= Answer questions and give tips to newbies and maybe even some fellow pros who don't know something.


So I'll get us started off here...How do you make user bars at all?

Userbars are just blocks that are 350 pix wide and 19 or 20 pix tall. That's what a userbar is. Making good ones is a different story. And would take a long time to explain.

I could tell you but that would take a long time. But first download GIMP. It's a free program that's much better then microsoft paint.'

User bars are made using image programs. The best free program is called The Gimp. It is what shadow,me,mrzero,and other people use. It is a little complicated but when you get the hang of it its easy

Another good free program is called Paint.net It doesn't have all the functions but it is easier to use.

You can be stupid and use just normal old paint but most likely they wont come out so well and if they do it took a long time.

When you are done making the image save it and upload it on a site(exp: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) and then copy the image url and go into your profile settings and then under signature put The most common size is 350 x 19 pix.

Ya...I didn't understand how to download any of that and I followed to the download place and....ugh...so confusing.

the gimp site is harder to actually download it. I didnt download it from there i got it from here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

But remember that your first userbar might take a long time to make. After that it's just easy.

Done! Took me 30 minutes to make it by constantly referring to the video and took me 10 minutes to figure out how to upload it and get it on here lol. It's not very good but it's a start aye?

nice all you need now is a new font and maybe a picture
the most common userbar font is here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
you can also find the diablo font witch is known as AvQuest on google

fonts are easy to download. Pictures can be found on [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I tried to put in a picture but the video didn't tell me how and I couldn't figure it out....


Also, I just tried to download the font and I think I did but I'm not sure because I can't use the text in GIMP

I put some advice on the rate your signature topic. I know it wasn't the right place but I really didn't want to give you a bad rating unless you actually learn how to do it. When you download a font. Find the font file because it would usually be zipped. So take the file out and go to My Computer and go to local disk. Then go to WINDOWS. Then put the font file in the font folder. Also if you need some more help take to me on AIM or something so I can give you some better directions.
