Dots, Lines, None?

Well as you know I make userbars. But something I'm kind of wondering is should I put dots, lines, or don't put any at all. I know this is kind of confusing so I put up examples of each.

Dots

Lines

None

Tell me what you think is the best one. I originally likes none but then someone told me that the userbar looks too plain without something so I added dots but now that I learned to make my userbars more smooth I can now add lines as well.

Re: Dots, Lines, None?

Also it makes mine different then Mr. Zero's and State's userbars. Mr. Zero uses lines, and I think state uses none. So dots make me the odd ball.

Also the dots makes it look like I did much more work and gives it the more quality look that I like.
Lines gives the smooth look that I like.
And none gives me that dream like image that I like.

So I like them all but for different reasons. But I stay with dots.

Re: Dots, Lines, None?

One thing I want to comment on is how you build the image.

You put a small image with 100% transparency and then a larger image with around 50% transparency.
Not that looks stupid but if you put it on every one of them, the userbars will look familiar and become boring.

There is a lot other methods.

It is just a sugestion .

Re: Dots, Lines, None?

I know. Right now I just started to make userbars. I'm actually getting ready to make a series like you did with your Ultimate Footmen userbars. But the ones I make are my personal ones that I make them special. Trust me. I've been experimenting with them. I'm very well aware of fading styles when I first started them. Mainly after MrApples talked about how if a map or a site doesn't update for a long period of time. It will become old and boring. But if you have any suggestions that you would like to share then I would like that very much.

Re: Dots, Lines, None?

I think it would be awesome if you had 2 subjects in a userbar. like, there's a dwarf facing left, and a goblin facing right, with text in between! then, you could have them not get old, but look better

And now, directly from chip's signature...

Re: Dots, Lines, None?

I use GIMP. Photoshop was just too expensive and I wasn't going to do a whole lot with it so it was kind of losing my money. So I got GIMP. The weaker then Photoshop but better then MS paint program.

Re: Dots, Lines, None?

If it was free then I would use it. But don't want do anything illegal. Even though music downloading is illegal. But still. GIMP is more simple then PS and if I can't do a lot of stuff in GIMP then it would not be any difference in PS.
