It's solar power's time to shine

The dirty little secret of the energy biz these days is that exploration executives don't want to see $130 oil, $12 natural gas or $4 gasoline any more than we do. For they fear two words that strike terror into the hearts of oilmen everywhere: demand destruction.

Nobody really knows where the tipping point of energy prices is -- that last straw on the camel's back that makes ordinary citizens and business planners decide enough's enough and, en masse, stop using so much -- but it sure seems close. From where I stand in Seattle, it's already here.

Solar and wind power are far too weak and inefficient to sustain even medium sized cities, and they are far too reliant on the fact that either the wind will blow or the day won't be cloudy... Nuclear is the way to go at this point in time.

ROFL

Demand Destruction is actually mandatory for gas-based vehicles.. especially those hummers. But the real energy comes from FRICTION! (dont know if I read this here or not but..) There is some peeps that built inside the carpet of a house a power generator that stores energy created from walking/friction on the ground.. so now its not a horrible idea to let your dog wipe his butt accross your carpet :P. "Need more light, *shuffles feet*".

Solar energy also, to kill pogo (not that its necessary) is stored within the cells.. so a bright 12 hour day can supply a decent house for 3! (or more). Nuclear energy is actually a BAD idea because the security network is tied to the internet.. and like all things tied to the internet.. can be HACKED. Its also apparently an easy process (the link to the news should be in a thread somewhere) that some dude did within a week.. and was able to control some serious parts of the plant.

not only that, the solar energy 'farms' would be in deserts. y'know, the ones without clouds.

Re: It's solar power's time to shine

That would require an extensive network to do it that way though.. :\.. I say we let CERN to do that Atom testing that would theoretically create a blackhole.. cuz if it doesn't we've got TONS of energy there.
