As I've been playing 8.8, I notice that leveling is pretty slow and the only place I have found worth going to is the elf village at the south. Is there any other place where the exp flow might be better?

No. The mobs outside Lothlorien are, in fact, as good as it gets. However, depending on your level it may be faster to kill things in the area to the west of the elves as the turnover rate on those may yield overall better exp. It depends on if the quantity of mobs you can cycle is sufficient to offset the lower overall quality.

If you want to have a buddy run simultaneous quests while you're farming up Lothlorien, that might make things go a bit faster.

Also, I believe having more players in game increases the rate of monster spawns. Can't confirm this, it might even be all psychosomatic. Whatever. It's worth a shot, right?

That's indeed true. If you play alone fill up the player list with computer players. They don't move or anything but monster respawning is immensely bigger. If you have a weak system it could lagg though, I dunno about that :/
