Enable singleplayer?

I just played singleplayer 6 hours to lvl 44 and tried to save and load with correct code, but according to a post in this forum you have to be in bnet.
unfortunately I do not have an internet connection all the day. is it possible to enable saving and loading in singleplayer without bnet?

Thx

Re: Enable singleplayer?

Not in 8.7.9
requires access to bnet to save apparently.

It'll slow down cheaters, in the very least. Nothing wrong with that.

Re: Enable singleplayer?

yeah, but not everyone can play everytime on BNet(or host a game everytime, for that matter)

and besides,we can use it to level up for online games(i myself do this)

Re: Enable singleplayer?

The only thing that will be disabled in single player is saving.

We can't prevent cheats in single player so the only effective way to stop it is by disable the save trigger when playing single player.

Does it require access to Bnet? Or just another player in the game? Because it seems to be more like the latter...

Right now the detection of single player is a bit messy. It simply check for the number of human players (not including computer players) and check if it is only one player.

What I have added instead is the use of "bj_IsSinglePlayer" variable so we can be sure that it is single player and not some player that just want to play alone on Bnet.

Is it possible that you disable this variable so it is possible to play alone?

No. I will enable it. But you can still play alone in Lan or over Bnet, and still save. Lan works perfectly if you don't have internet all the time but still want to improve your char, as it does not require internet.

So playing FFERPG in single player will not be possible but playing FFERPG as a single player (playing through Lan or Bnet) will be possible with save trigger on.

Re: Enable singleplayer?

yes,i'd appreciate it very much.i understand why you're disabling single player, but players who play alone and doesn't use cheats shouldn't be punished by the actions of those who use'em...

edit: oh,so we can't disable it.too bad,but i think it is somewhat unfair...

Re: Enable singleplayer?

if you want to play on your own. it is not necessary to go into single player mode. (you can either create game on bnet or lan, as mentioned by zero) the only reason you need single player is if you want to use cheats. atm there is a way to kill omega, get omega proof and get a save code through single player usage.

Re: Enable singleplayer?

i started to write that before so yeah,i know what to do now(i know i edited, but i edited before reading the whole thing...)

honestly,i always thought that getting a save code on single player was intended.i'd never imagine Zero and Titan never liked that feature...but still,if this has only been brought up now,it means something has made than change their minds about it...

Single player will still be available. It will just remind you that you can't save and have to play over either Lan or Bnet to save.

Re: Enable singleplayer?

And what is about making a singleplayer version without savecodes?

On that version you could use the save and load functions from the game which are much better than the codes since it saves all your quests and progress.

Moreover you cannot "cheat" high savecodes for bnet.

For that a simple game cache could be used.

Re: Enable singleplayer?

Why don't you just have a trigger disable save if cheats are used... yes i get making a lan game is easier with the new system... i was just saying that a simple text checking trigger works fine

How can you use game cache for loading and saving? I'm not that deep into the game

That's what I'm doing. But if detected single player it will disable the Bnet save&load system and enable game cache instead.

Well game cache is as the name suggest. It's a cache. You can store everything in it and use it for later. The only problem is that Blizzard didn't allow to use it over Bnet as it could be used for attacks on the computer.
But for saving I just store everything that cache. What hero you were last playing, gold, crystals, items on gaya house and yourself, what quest you have done and etc. Well I hope to be able to do that, but the triggering right now is quite complicated.

Re: Enable singleplayer?

...Simply set triggers to detect the player saying phrases (much like how SS triggers Super Saiyan stuff to happen in DBZ Tribute). A player types in Greed is Good, map ends (or save is disabled) and so on and so forth..

Problem solved.

Re: Enable singleplayer?

Impossible. Saying greedisgood in single player goes around the chat event. E.g. not detectable. It's the same for every cheat code.

But saying it in lan or over Bnet will be detectable.

Yeh.. pretty sure it would conflict with the cheat.. then get discarded and overriden by the cheat.

Re: Enable singleplayer?

Erm, how come then there is a current anti-cheat function that has been in the map since 8.6? Could you not just look at the triggers for that and keep them in the map? I am assuming you are completely rewriting all of the triggers when I say this. It was implemented before you took the project over, but maybe the code is too complicated for you to anaylse...

Oh and yeah, first post!
