Hello,

Our mail gateway has picked up on your account ******, gator233 server, as sending out more than 200 emails per our hour. This is in violation of our mail policy as found at http://hostgator.com/mailpolicy.shtml.

"There is a 200 hourly email limit per domain this limit is also applied towards mailman. If you send over this amount in any hour most of the e-mails will bounce back with a undeliverable error."

To prevent further messages from being sent out the following was disabled:

[root@gator*** ~]# chmod 000 /*****/******/*******/pollama
[root@gator*** ~]# chattr +ia /*****/******/*******/pollama

Please contact us as soon as possible to resolve this issue.

[root@gator*** ~]# cat /var/log/exim_mainlog | grep '2008-01-01 00' | grep cwd=/****/***** | wc -l

My license is completely legal, what does that have to do with e-mail violations? Custom number is *********** - purchased september 4th, 2006 if I remember correctly, I'm not at liberty to give more than that.

Jelsoft has a provided us a number of ways to verify legal copies of vBulletin without having to contact them directly and according to their methods, the version installed on your account is unlicensed and cannot be used.

Does this have anything to do with an e-mail limit or are you denying access to only harass me? Have you even contacted Jelsoft on this matter and inquired on my domain at all, such should be required before taking any action.

As previously stated, we have directions *from* Jelsoft on how to verify legit installations and since yours lacked some of the proper characteristics, I was forced to bring this up. Since I can find a number of your files that can fail these checks (which are provided to us by Jelsoft), the burden of proof of ownership is not on us to provide. I have found your license key and am verifying this with Jelsoft.

However, I see that you have 3.7.0 and the solution to the email issue that we have -- found on vBulletin.org Forum - The Official vBulletin Resource! -- we cannot verify if this will work 100% since it's for the 3.6.x series.

Otherwise, your telling me I am still locked out because you scanned the software I use with an outdated tool, and for some odd reason, it's bringing up license violations on unrelated files? It is not my responsibility to make sure the tools your company uses are up-to-date, and neither should it be my problem.

Sorry for the attitude but I'm wasting time over bull****. Even though my site is small, it does receive traffic, and I have an obligation to keep it online. No offense to you personally of course

I know your license is valid, I've already had that checked, I'm just stating that your files are failing their validation checks.

The account is unsuspended. IF you feel that a modification for 3.6.x is going to work on 3.7.0B3 please check this out: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=133844 .
... and we're back up!

Zomg idiots.

How could they supend you for outdated software? Lame!

How about got to their boards (HostGator Peer Support Forums - Powered by vBulletin) and post in the area where you can rate their service? Post the story and people will laugh of them.

Re: On the downtime...

That is just stupid...
I mean ffs how do they go from this is an email sending rate problem to you do not have the proper lisences. It seems odd, also, why would they all of a sudden start checking other files after the email problem? It seems odd to me, what do the rest of you think?

And I read the forum on the software site, it is their fault for not allowing you to set a limit within the peramiters of the software you purchased aka poor design, especially considering this is probably not the only host with that kind of limit.

Re: On the downtime...

The cause was a bug in the vB software, apparently after coming over from SMF everyone's birthday was set so that they would turn 2006 at 12:00am 2008. Birthday e-mails overloaded it.

Re: On the downtime...

so why did they all of the sudden start randomly checking files for piracy when you were notified of the email limit being broken?
